Joan Walsh caught this tidbit, among others:

In a related tangent, I was stunned by Editor and Publisher's report that AP, the New York Times and other news organizations quoted liberally from Pittsburgh health club murderer George Sodini's diaries, but left out his racist diatribes against Obama. The diary in fact began the day after Obama was elected, and Sodini wrote, "Good luck to Obama! He will be successful. The liberal media LOVES him. Amerika has chosen The Black Man." He then goes on to complain that white "hoes" are choosing black men over him. In the last four months we've seen three mass shootings -- the Pittsburgh cop killings, the Holocaust Museum murders and now this -- in which the murderer has ranted crazily about Obama. I worry with good reason that the Sodini assault won't be the last.

Whatever happened to "If it bleeds, it leads?"

When two major media outlets as established and respected as the AP and New York Times choose to cover up such clear evidence of the dangerous insanity infecting our culture, that can be taken as proof that the insanity is no longer isolated; it's mainstream.

Have you read the unedited blog? It's horrific. I've read it on other sites. I can't remember which ones, but they were British news outlets because that's what I read most of the time. All they blanked out were the curse words, which surprises me given that I hear the word "fuck" on UK TV on a regular basis.

And if I see one more person spell American "Amerika" I will have to smite them. :-(

Haven't got around to that. And I'm not sure I want to. What little I saw on US TV was pretty mundane, with a good bit of standard self-pity and a "plan" to meet more wimmin that didn't seem to include going to events where the wimmin shared his interests (if any).

well, if your only interests are wimmin who don't share your interests and COMPLAINING about wimmin who don't share your interests...

BradHicks (I read him for the facts nobody else posts, though I don't buy all the doomsayer opinions he throws into the mix) pointed out the other interest fact about the idiot that the media has utterly glossed over: he was unemployed.

Really, that's the thing: the media in their eternal goal to present a simple "story" (he's a misogynist who couldn't get a date) has utterly suppressed the larger story, that he was a paragon of white-male stupidity (misogyny & racism) with a touch of bad luck (extended unemployment). add in that "I'm going to see Jesus soon" line and you have witnessed the *perfect storm* of right-wing american terrorism.

*exactly* the sort of terrorist the right-wing punditocracy swore didn't exist in response to the FBI report that described such a person as prime candidate #1 for domestic terrorism.

btw, a google-cache query can find the diary if you're really sick...
